It’s about more than the riding- we are developing the person as a whole, here.Â
-Hannah
Hannah began her career in horses by halter breaking foals and establishing basic groundwork skills to prep them for sale at a local farm. She gained valuable knowledge about the importance of groundwork, and how it translates to well trained horses under saddle.
Her first year of college, she managed a large barn of 40+ horses, riding and training while she was there. She studied equine nutrition heavily and assisted other large barns in finding suitable feed regimens for their horses. At this point, she had three horses, and decided to start looking for a place of her own.
Although it wasn’t in the plans to run a business, after teaching a few lessons, it became clear this wouldn’t just be a side job. She found her true passion was training people, not just horses, and helping the next generation develop some responsibility, work-ethic, and grit. Hannah founded JAKS Stables in 2015 at just 17 years old with the hopes of teaching proper horsemanship in a world full of misinformation and outdated information. She’s had the pleasure of teaching hundreds of students over the years, and continues to teach as the sole instructor at JAKS now.
Now 27, Hannah enjoys managing the barn and teaching lessons throughout the week. She is a strong believer that there is always more to learn, and continues to work under renowned trainers across the country. Hannah rides, trains, and shows primarily in ranch horse and cow horse disciplines. Her students range from trail and pleasure riders, to world show competitors.
